Higher Self

Communicating with your higher self is actually quite simple. What makes the process difficult is relaxing the strains placed on the conscious mind enough to attune with the higher self. The higher self is very direct, simple and heartwarming in it's communication. As far as I can tell, the higher self is describes an immortal aspect of oneself. It lives through multiple incarnations and is the thread connecting your lives into a multidimensional tapestry. As with most beings in the higher densities, the higher self has many incomprehensible desires and agendas. Unlike most of the beings in the higher densities, the higher self usually has a great deal of shared interest with the conscious self, and ego. Of course there are many noises that can sound like the voice of your higher self. Truly, the voice of your higher self can often sound strange when unaccustomed to it. Follow what you feel, physically, to be true.

Most magicians avoid alcoholic inebriation during workings. Alcohol is a strange drug in that while technically a depressant, it generally causes people to be more confrontational and boisterous. Alcohol though a depressant is also a channeling medium. Alcohol has long been called 'spirits' because of the seemingly possessed actions of inebriates. The truth (or veil of truth) regarding this drug that i'd like to address is that alcohol (like any drug) allows us to contend with ideas or beings in higher planes of reality. Unlike most other drugs which can catalyze such encounters, alcohol does so without the awareness of the inebriated. This can be of surprisingly little use to the magician. Nonetheless outside of a 'working' context such intoxication can be fun.

Mercury Retrograde

This period of transition is marked by breakdowns in communication and in existing information structures. The planetary movements are all connected to our internal states. The artificial matrix we survive within prevents true recognition of the atmospheric changes otherwise quite tangible. Reality ebbs and flows, only a madman tries to fight it's current..

On Glamour

Glamour as a practice can be useful as a tool, but also can become a bad habit. Something about glamour magic attracts addictive personalities. Perhaps the psychology of relying on craft and tools to better oneself is one of constant escalation. Glamour as a practice is more useful as a distraction or misdirection than attention seeking. Glamour that seeks attention quickly looses it's luster and breeds addictive habits and insecurities. Finally glamour and romance should not be mixed if your intentions are based in love. Love abhors insincerity.

Accessing Higher Planes of Reality

The higher planes or circuits of reality (depending on whether you view language as technology or not) are accessible through a number of gateways. The gateways all involve some level of negotiating preconceived notions of reality/self-identification.

The true reality can never be described. for it is amorphous, non-linear, and is in a state of constant creation while being destroyed. What we experience is as much of the true reality as our brains can permit.

Conjecture has been made by various magicians that the beings that reside in the higher planes or circuits of reality may be ideas or archetypes. This is the basis for Evocation and Invocation. When accessing higher planes of reality we must take care to respect the power of such beings that though maybe intangible in our world, can have a very real physical influence.

The higher the plane or circuit reached, the more difficult it is to return. One must keep an honest heart and a sturdy brain in order to negotiate with beings (ideas or archetypes) thousands of years older than us.

The Rat Race

The biggest myth of the 20th century is that earning money will somehow save the individual from 'fate', allowing them to be the 'masters of their own destiny'. This is a carefully marketed idea that preys on our innate fear of inferiority. Anyone focused on the acquisition of capital as a goal in life is subject to this inferiority complex. It's the nature of entrenched hierarchy for the person with perceived power to dump on the person with less status. Thus capital becomes the means of wreaking status based revenge. Unfortunately submitting to the goal of acquiring capital is tantamount to accepting and proactively creating an inferiority complex for oneself. If you took a random low-income person and a random high-income person and tricked both into thinking they were almost out of money, can you guess who would have the stronger reaction? I'll give you a hint; it's the one whose identity is most tied to the amount of capital they own. In this manner the largest of wars may be perpetrated. By artificially creating a depression those invested in the rat race are collared by the inferiority complex they've struggled so hard to hide beneath the lucrative income. Once the fear becomes the emotive drive for decision making, rationality and logic are secondary to the commands of authority figures.
